What is an Advocacy Letter?
Each Spring, SPAN USAŽ gathers in Washington, DC. Activities include visits to congressional offices to deliver Advocacy Letters and to recognize US legislators who lead the effort for suicide prevention laws. SPAN USA people petition the US Congress and
State Governors for Suicide Prevention Support.
You can help by doing the following:
- Read the Congressional Resolutions and the 12 reasons to sign Advocacy Letters
- Download and print a Youth Letter if you are NOT of voting age, or download and print an Adult Letter if you ARE of voting age.
Note: Your computer will prompt you for your name and address, and it will then generate four letters that fit onto one sheet of paper, each addressed to a different government official.
- After print the page, sign in the four blanks provided for signatures. You may write comments of the back of the page also.
- Mail completed letters (do not separate them) to:
Suicide Prevention Services, 528 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia IL 60510
